A psychic surfing Raichu flew ahead of her trainer, on the hunt for new team members. At least, that was what Annie had asked Pancake to do. In reality, the surfer was on the hunt for berries hidden amongst the bushes lining the path. Annie hadn’t been with the Pokemon long enough for her to know the difference either way, and so the mouse was allowed to continue looking vigilant.

Annie, on the other hand, was wholeheartedly fixed on forming her sun team. She knew that many a fire-type had made their homes on the route, and at least one of them had to be Camp Annie material! So she called to them: “Calling all Pokemon! Tryouts for Camp Annie are open for a very limited time! Get your butts out and show your stuff!”

The Raichu’s call ushered Annie over to their first find. A berry bush! Annie gave Pancake an unamused stare, only for the mouse to gesture for a closer look. It was a little canine hiding in the berry bush, its blue eyes peering out at them. “Oh. Nice spying, Pancake, but this one looks… scared. Like it doesn’t want to be disturbed. Let’s leave it – and the berries – alone.” Her rodent looked disappointed, but it wasn’t brave enough to disobey. Yet.

OOC: Catch!

The little fox’s cry heralded an intensifying sun. The travelling pair both shielded their eyes from the harsh glare, Pancake hopping off her tail to use it as a visor instead. The Fennekin rushed in under near-blinding cover, stopped short of firing a Fire Blast by a Psychic stopping it in its tracks. If not for the mouse’s quick thinking, one or both of them might have been toast.

By the time Annie’s eyes adjusted, she could only see her partner holding their would-be attacker in the air. “Oh. Good thinking, Pancake! Don’t know what I’d do without you!” Pancake gave an approving coo. “Well, we’ve got this guy, and it totally looks like he gets what a fire team is about. How about it?” She wasn’t waiting for an answer, seeing as her target was already snared. In short order, he’d be another member of Camp Annie.
